I am making each of my children a towel for Christmas. I know it is a little early but I make things all year, put them in the Fair in October, and then give out as gifts throughout all the year and all my children currently have winter birthdays so it is perfect for Christmas and their birthdays. I made my son's frog towel today. It was my first time ever sewing on appliques. I think it turned out fairly well since I have never made them before and I have never done appliques before. I got a new sewing machine for my birthday in January and have sure been enjoying learning all the cool things I can do with it.
The tongue does have a fly on it. The head is the hood of the towel. It took me just over an hour to finish this from start to finish (minus cutting out the pattern and the pieces which I did previously.) It took 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, and one wash cloth plus a piece of felt and grosgrain ribbon. I think the cost was about $10 for all those items.

Easter bird nest
I saw this in Taste of Home magazine and decided to try it. I had a little trouble with melting the white chocolate so the pretzels weren't as pliable as I would have liked. However I did better melting the chocolate when applying the peeps and jelly bean eggs. I took them to my oldest daughter's Kindergarten class and they loved them.
Welcome to my new blog
I have decided to start a new blog just about my crafts and hobbies. I love to sew, crochet, knit, cook, read, write, etc. so thought it would be nice to have a place to showcase some of my projects and talk about books I am reading. This will also help me remember things I have made and what I enjoyed or didn't enjoy about them. Same with books.
